Light Pipes Automotive |

|
The automotive industry has made innovative use of light pipes. For this application, the light pipe is designed to allow light to be visible through the walls of the tubing. This tubing is then located around items such as door handles and ignition locks to provide discrete lighting, and the illumination of ashtrays and cubby holes. Other applications for this type of light pipe include the illumination of emergency exit routes in boats, trains and planes, and of emergency exits in buildings. Their big advantage is that light pipes utilise low voltage LEDs, which do not need the regular replacement that conventional light bulbs do.
